• Spate of sth- large no. of things that are unpleasant and happen sudden within a short period of time.

•Prejudicial to sth- harming, damaging

•E.g. Development prejudicial to the company’s future is a matter of concern.

•Date back to sth- to have existed since a particular time in the past.

•E.g. The college dates back to medieval times.
